Westview Wednesday – May 3, 2023

Our old Westview Wednesday makes a surprise appearance.

There is an important event happening I want to make you aware of.    Thursday May 4, 2023 is the National Day of Prayer.   Westview is hosting a special community wide prayer time that evening at 7pm in our facility.

There is a story told in 2 Chronicles 20:1-30 that helps us understand the power and need for prayer.   King Jehoshaphat gathered a whole host of people in the temple courtyard for prayer because a massive enemy army was coming to annihilate them all.   As he prays he says, “We have no power to face this enemy that is attacking us.  We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you O God!”

I can almost picture myself in that new courtyard holding a grandson’s hand.    A strange mix of emotions run through my heart.    I know there is no hope of defeating a strong army on the battlefield.  On the other hand, I know the history of my God who parts the Red Sea and makes  thick walls collapse with only shouts and trumpets.   So prayer makes a lot of sense and is desperately needed.    Under King Jehoshaphat the people came and were strengthened and an enemy was defeated.   When eyes (and hearts) are turned toward God, things change.

Please plan on attending this prayer event with your family.  Let’s enter the courtyard together, hold someone’s hand, and I’m sure we’ll see God at work.

Anyway, that’s how I see it.

Pastor Pete
